Jackalope No. 2

$322.00

The Jackalope mythos originated in North America in the 1930's with two taxidermist brothers from Wyoming. They began to mount antelope or deer horns onto jack-rabbits and sold them as mythical creatures called Jackalopes at a local hotel and their popularity grew exponentially. Fast forward to present times, and our love for jackalopes it right up there with unicorns. At least for me it is!

Dimensions: The pendant is approximately 2.75" long from tip of horns to bottom of crystal, and just over an inch at its widest, the horns. The opal is approximately 8mm long. The fluorite itself measures just under 1.5" and hangs on an 18"-20" adjustable sterling silver 2mm rolo chain and has a lobster claw clasp.

I've been hoarding these particular stone combinations for the perfect project for a couple of years. I have never seen such mesmerising and iridescent opals as these stunning lab grown opals from @sterlingopal on Instagram.
This fluorite stuns with its flow of pastel purples and mint to lime greens and a bit of a rainbow inside the inclusions too. Fluorite is associated with Pisces and Capricorn, and the heart chakra. It is said to help draw off negative energies such as stress and disorganization, is grounding, heightens intuitive powers and is said to aid in learning, and concentraion, and aids in downloading new information into the subconscious.

Each setting is hand sculpted in wax around the stone and then cast in solid sterling silver and oxidized and polished once more to better reveal the many tiny details of your piece. This piece is one of a kind and entirely hand made by me from start to finish, but for one middle step: the lost wax casting process which is done for me at a fabulous family owned casting shop in RI, just an hour drive away from my Boston home. In addition to the wax work, I set my own stones and do all of the metal work as well. Each piece I make comes from my heart, imagination and materializes via my hands. Each creation is literally a small piece of me going out into the world to spread its own little magic. I hope my pieces bring their wearers lifelong joy and empowerment.
